Zenni is committed to providing affordable, eco-friendly eyewear at prices that make you, the planet, and your wallet smile. We have three key eco-material players in our manufacturing process:
Bio-based Acetate: These frames are made from renewable Bio-Acetate sourced from nature’s finest plant materials, such as wood pulp and cotton. They’re biodegradable - meaning they naturally break down without harming the planet - within 115 days*. They’ve got the same durability and flexibility as eyewear made with traditional acetate, while minimizing environmental impact. Plus, they’re free of common allergens and phthalates.
Recycled PET: Durable, lightweight, and free from common allergens, these frames are made with 85% upcycled PET plastic (polyethylene terephthalate) from water bottles that dodged the landfill. By giving plastic a second life, we’re cutting down on waste, conserving energy, and slashing greenhouse gas emissions.
Recycled Metal & Bio-based Acetate: These frames are crafted with the perfect balance of durability and sustainability. They have the strength of recycled stainless steel mixed with the eco-friendly properties of biodegradable, plant-sourced material. Highly durable, corrosion-resistant, and hypoallergenic - they are as resilient as they are responsible. Plus, you can customize them to perfectly fit your face, so they stick around for even longer!

Quality and Certification
The EcoBloomz™ collection is manufactured with Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification. GRS promotes sustainability and social responsibility on all levels of production. In addition to providing style and sustainability, Zenni is also committed to delivering these glasses in a more sustainable way. EcoBloomz™ are shipped in a reusable box made of recyclable paper and include a pouch and lens cloth made from 80% recycled PET fabric (rPET) extracted from plastic bottles.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the EcoBloomz™ frames be recycled?
We offer both bio-based and recycled plastic frame options in our EcoBloomz line of sustainable eyewear. The products made from recycled plastic (RPET) are designed to be recycled. Simply remove the prescription lenses and dispose of the frame in a recycling bin.
Do you also offer EcoBloomz™ for kids?
Yes! We also offer EcoBloomz kids frames that have the same durability and irritant-free benefits. We are planning to expand our catalogue. Stay tuned!
What is the EcoBloomz™ pouch made of?
Each EcoBloomz purchase includes a glasses pouch made from 80% Recycled PET fabric (rPET). This is an environmentally friendly fabric made using yarns derived from recycled plastic bottles. The pouch also doubles as a lens cloth.
Can the EcoBloomz™ cardboard shipping box be recycled?
Yes, EcoBloomz glasses ship in a reusable and recyclable box made from recycled paper. However, please note that shipments containing multiple pairs will be sent in our standard plastic shipping bag, which is designed to reduce weight and help minimize our carbon footprint.
Can I purchase a sustainable pouch or upgrade my shipping to recycled paper packaging?
The sustainable pouch and recycled paper packaging are exclusive to the EcoBloomz collection and cannot be purchased separately.
Can I recycle regular Zenni glasses and cases?
Regular Zenni frames cannot be recycled, but we encourage customers to donate lightly used glasses. Our classic Zenni teal clamshell cases are designed to be reusable and can be repurposed for various uses, such as storing travel essentials like a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Zenni is a proud member of 1% for the Planet, an international organization whose members contribute at least 1% of profits from specific collections or entire organizations to support environmental causes. One percent of EcoBloomz proceeds will directly support environmental nonprofit Wyland Foundation to help advance its mission to promote, protect, and preserve the world’s oceans, waterways, and marine life. Beyond the launch of EcoBloomz, Zenni is partnering with the Wyland Foundation to encourage environmental awareness through education programs, public arts projects, and community events.
