Lenses FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get new lenses for my existing frames?

  • We don't offer lens-only replacements, but many local optical shops can update your current frames with new lenses. Here's a money-saving tip: Compare their lens replacement costs with our complete pair prices. You might be surprised how affordable a brand-new pair, including frames and lenses, can be!

Do you sell contact lenses?

  • We’ve recently made some changes to our product line and no longer sell contact lenses. While this may come as a surprise, we're excited to continue focusing on what we do best: offering a wide selection of stylish, high-quality prescription and non-prescription glasses.

Is Blokz® a blue light coating?

  • Blokz® blue light lenses are not just a coating; they’re made with advanced blue light-blocking technology from Mitsui Chemicals, a trusted leader in lens materials. The blue-light blocking polymer is embedded directly into the lens material itself, so it won't chip, peel, or wear off over time.

What do the lens index numbers and high index mean?

  • Lens index in prescription glasses refers to the thickness and light-bending ability (refractive index) of the lens material. It's a number that indicates how efficiently the lens can bend (refract) light to correct vision.

  • High-index lenses (like 1.61, 1.67, and 1.74) use special materials that bend light more efficiently, so they are thinner and lighter. This is great news if you have a strong prescription, since regular lenses can sometimes be thick and heavy.

What are polycarbonate lenses?

  • Polycarbonate lenses are impact-resistant and are stronger and lighter than standard lenses, which makes them a great option for kids’, rimless, and sports glasses, or for anyone rough on their glasses. Learn more here about which lens index and material are best suited for your prescription, lifestyle, and frame selection.

What is the difference between photochromic and polarized lenses?

  • Photochromic lenses are specially treated to turn dark when exposed to UV light, so the lenses turn dark when worn outside, but become clear again once they are taken out of the sunlight.

  • Polarized lenses are sunglasses lenses that are permanently dark and work to reduce the glare from light that is polarized horizontally, meaning the light reflected off horizontal surfaces; for example, a white sidewalk, a white-sand beach, snow, or sunlight reflecting on the water.

Do you offer night driving lenses?

  • We’re excited to offer our night driving lenses, featuring cutting-edge NeoContrast™ lens technology by Mitsui Chemicals. These lenses are designed to reduce glare from headlights and streetlights, filter out excess bright light, and enhance contrast in low-light conditions. What sets our lenses apart is their virtually clear design with a hint of yellow, providing a natural look with minimal color distortion. Unlike traditional yellow-tinted lenses, ours are perfect for all-day wear, seamlessly transitioning from day to night.

  • We also offer night driving clip-ons that can easily be added to almost any frame. These clip-on lenses have a yellow tint, and the included double-sided anti-reflective coating is designed to minimize glare from surrounding light. Click here for information on how to order.

  • Note: The clip-ons are cut slightly larger than the optical lenses to provide full coverage.
